With the Christmas and New Year holiday fun gone, it’s time to get back to school! How has that been for you? I started on Monday, so I’ve been slowly getting back into it. I was surprised by how much I actually missed it during the Christmas break. I was longing to something other than the Christmas break norm of reading, chatting with friends, and looking at blogs. Seriously, my poor friends and I were running out of things to talk about! I was counting down the days to start my history course, get back to my ASL, and Algebra. I couldn’t wait to learn!
But, then it hit me.
I felt empty. School had taken over my life. It was my goal. It was my every thought. What do I have to do next? What should I study for? Oh dear! I should do more Algebra. Look at the time…I still haven’t done my American Sign Language yet.
I would get soooooo stressed out about it.
I forgot something really important.
Reading my Bible.
Talking to God.
And, most importantly, being like Jesus.
I became grumpy and stressed. Making my needs important. My grades. How much school I got done. I seriously forgot that Jesus loved me even if I was behind in algebra a bit. I didn’t have time to read the Bible…but Jesus had time to speak those words for us to read.
It isn’t about me. It is about Him!
I learned more than I thought I did over Christmas break. A lesson worth learning! Thank you Lord for teaching me. I wonder what my next lesson will be? 🙂
