Hey everyone! I have recently started an etsy shop to sell my pictures. All of the photos I have taken myself, and some have been featured on my blog. : ) Taking pictures is really enjoyable to me, and I love that I get the opportunity to start a business with something I love doing! If you would like to see my shop, I put a link in the picture. Thanks so much!
Awesome, Maddy! I will check it out as soon as I post this comment. Allison is going to start an Etsy shop soon. 🙂

Thanks Megan! Oh that’s so cool! What will she be selling?

Yup!
I know! She is making mostly polymer clay stuff (maybe some stuffed bears too). So far she has a woodland animal set, some necklaces and earrings… I thnk that is all so far! Maybe a pencil wrap around

That’s so neat that you have an Etsy shop, Maddy! I checked it out and your pictures are really pretty! I can see from the comments above that my sister already told you, but I hope to be starting an Etsy shop soon too. I’ll do a post about it when I start. I hope your shop is successful!

Hey Maddy! I checked out your shop and the pictures are BEAUTIFUL, but I don’t think I would be aloud to buy any as the shipping would cost loads of money 😦 But I will definitely advertise it on my blog when I find time! I’m glad you’re able to sell your lovely photos 🙂

Those are beautiful pictures, Maddy!
I’m glad you can start trying to sell them. Lots of times when you are good at something like that, people will advise you to start selling them-but it’s hard to actually make that step 🙂 I’m glad you’re able to now, though.
Blessings,
Julia

Thank you so much, Jewels! It did take awhile before I actually got it open, but I’m very happy that it’s all ready and up!

Is this a weird question: How did you set up your bank account on Etsy? Because I’m trying to set up my shop and that part seems complicated. Did you use your parents account because it says you have to be eighteen or over, and I’m not, so I’m kind of confused. I understand if you don’t want to answer. 🙂

Hey Allison.
Yeah, that can be a little confusing.
I just used my parents bank account since I’m not 18 or older. 🙂 Feel free to ask any other questions if you have any.

I have another question: what do you do about sales tax? Do you have to collect it where you live or does it even matter?

I am not set up for tax as of right now, and I’ll probably keep it that way. Like if I ever got to be a professional photographer, that’s something I’d probably need to do, but my mom said that it’s not to big of a deal. She has had an etsy shop for 8 years and she’s never used tax.

OK, thanks for the reply! That’s pretty much exactly what we figured out. 🙂

I favorited your shop ❤ love the banner look. For your pictures, you may want to take some pictures with a size reference. For example, get a nice frame that show's the picture's dimensions. You can have like 5 photos per listings I think, so that would help reference, and show how pretty the picture could look in a frame. You can take some different angles. It will help show off how your art could look in someone's home. (just add in description) frame not included.

Thank you so much. That is a very good idea, thank you. I will have to see about getting some more pictures up. Thanks for the tip.

No problem! The pictures are gorgeous you just need to advertise how they can look/be used. Also consider putting a watermark on your images, so people don’t just drag it to their desktop.

Skip that! I checked your pictures again and saw your name on it, sorry about that! : )

No problem! I second guessed myself for a minute there on whether or not I had put a watermark on them 😉

Oh, and something also to consider is themes people commonly use. For example, holiday themes, pictures that represent that. Your fall pictures, winter pictures, beach themes as you have, etc. I have soaps for holidays, and different parties. It helps also for you to consider certain props you can use in different locations to take pictures.

You are welcome, and these are just suggestions. 🙂 Part of is learning what you want to do, and then learning how that applies to your target customers.

No problem : ) . I really like getting to know others, and I’m so glad my comments aren’t seen as overbearing. I always worry about annoying someone with too many likes/comments at once. And since we share certain things in common, it’s really nice to be able to talk about those things, giving opinions, and suggestions to help out. : )
